Dell Precision 7560 display upgrade
Hi All,
Just got a used, nice spec machine DELL Precision 7560 (i9, RTX 3080) which came with a terrible washed out, 250 nit screen (it was awful), I did a Google search for users who have done upgrades like this on 7550 and 7560, it seems the general word is you have to be careful due to incompatibilites and most people go for OE 4k anyway.
So I have Arch Linux installed along with W11 and I asked ChatGPT and it said it would be able to interogate the video system and UEFI to see what the 7560 could support, after about 30 minuets of copying and pasting comands to and from ChatGPT to the terminal ChatGPT said the 7560 would support the 2k (2560 x 1440) and high refresh which is what I wanted. I needed the non-touch, UHD 4K RGB Camera display cable DELL P/N 094D5W (eBay) and 2k 240hz LG LP156QHG SP V1 this is a 400 nit, 16.7 million colour, 100% DCPIP-3 panel, evertyhing works 100% fine, brightness buttons, 240Hz, very bright, punchy display, very very happy with this. Reason I had to change to the 4k cable is the pitch of the pins on the 2K display is 0.4mm and 4 lane eDP vs 2 lanes and 0.5mm on the old cable with with 30 pin anyway.
