Dell Precision 7550 CPU Core Speed stuck at 0.80GHz
After the start, the CPU is fixed at 0.85 GHz in AC mode!
When you go to battery operation everything is normal and remains normal even in AC.
How can this anomaly be corrected? The hardware is OK!

Hello , if you look at the previous 7750 and 7550 posts the reason is a bug in the 1.8.0 bios.
If you downgrade to the 1.7.0 previous bios (remembering to run the .exe program as administrator) then you will find normal performance is restored. Dell is aware of the issue and we have been told that they are working on an update.

Please view this thread here - also, as per the previous message from babenson - this will at least be a workaround for now.

I'm "happy" to hear that someone has the same problem. On my system I had the same problem one week ago, I tried with Dell support that thoroughly analyzed my system, apparently all components were normal, an RTC/Bios Settings reset solved the problem, but only temporarily, today the problem showed again. I will try to reset RTC again, but Dell has to resolve this problem once for all!

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

I have found that when I start the pc in the battery, everything is OK, when I start the pc with the power supply, the CPU does not go over 0.9GHz.

I have the same problem: Precision 7550 speed is stuck at 0.8 GHz. As for you, every time I unplug the power cable, the speed returns to normal, before it stalls again around 0.8GHz a few minutes or hours later. I contacted DELL service who couldn't find a solution (they didn't seem to be aware of the problem).

For me, the solution was to return to 'Dell Command | Power Manager' and reset "Battery Setting" to Standard.
I had customised "Start Charging: (at or below)" to 50% so that the battery could be drained down to 50% before it would be charged again.
Apparently, a battery at 75% not being charged was understood as "running on battery" (rather than on AC power), if not worse...

@babenson Hello.
I updated the BIOS minutes ago and now when I open msinfo32 this is what I see:
BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. 1.39.1, 4/18/2025, before this version I had 1.38
My laptop is a Precision 7550 that runs Windows 11 64bit.
What 1.7 or 1.8 version are you referring to and where did you obtained it from?
This is a corporate laptop with service tag and all that I insisted to keep after the 3 years of warranty and in the last month I've been plagued randomly by situations where the clock drops to 0.8 GHz and this is killing me and my work. Sometimes if I restart it goes back to > 3 GHZ but I'm not able to understand what drives this behavior.
Please please help me, thank you,

@sap7772000 Hello again. I found version 1.8.1 but I can't install it, you can see below what I get:
I verified and I can apply babenson's solution but the clock does not adapt to the needs, stays at precisely 2.7GHz
What additional options do I have now?
Thank you
