Dell Precision 7520 - Unable to Enter BIOS (via F2 or F12) after Wipe on Next Boot option usage.
Hi,
So recently I got a Dell Precision 7520 - and I installed Ubuntu, 20.04.3, so I changed from RAID to AHCI mode.
After few minutes I thought that I might clean up every single disk (cause I wanted to) on this laptop so I entered BIOS and I choosed to Wipe on Next Boot. The process was so long that I thought that it actually froze so I pressed Power Off button.
After I did that I'm no longer able to enter BIOS either via F2 or F12 but I was able to use recovery and flash latest BIOS via USB Stick (Precision_7x20_1.21.0.exe) and changed the file name to BIOS_IMG.rcv and process recovery is ending with full success, but I'm still not able to see the BIOS after I press F2 or F12 - I see black screen. In addition I also did the screen test (pressed D) and all colours are ok.
Can someone help me what can I do in such situation ?
I have only one disk M2 and one HDD (that were provided to me) and two RAM sticks (each 16 gb).
Thanks for an answer and help.

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

> So recently I got a Dell Precision 7520 –
I’ve had one for 4 years… Disconnect it from all external sources including the SD Card and Power Cord. Turn it upside down and remove the battery cover. Remove the battery. Inspect the battery for swelling. Remove the back cover. Carefully remove the coin-cell battery (This battery is due to replace) and let the computer sit for 10 minutes. Turn the computer over and open the lid. Press and hold the Power Button for +30 seconds and release the power button. Shut the lid and turn it upside down. Carefully reinstall the coin-cell battery. Reinstall the back cover. Reinstall the main battery and reinstall the battery cover. Connect it to external power and power it on. Hopefully you’ll have control of it.

Thanks for a proposed solution, I'll try when I'll order a new CMOS battery.
So you think that my BIOS might still be not-bricked at all, so that CMOS battery change should fix the problem ?
Thanks anyway

Quick question, I have the exact same issues in the exact same circumstances with the exception that I have an Inspiron 7573 with an integrated graphics intel HD 620 with the CPU. I lost the A/C power when the wipe was taking place. Any solutions?

Hi, I encountered the very same problem with a Dell precision 7520. CTRL+ESC is supposed to recover the bios but this did not work for me. I am left unable to get into bios setup through either F2 or F12. I tried just about everything to reset the hardware and none of them worked for me. The notebook is essentially bricked. Furthermore, I strongly believe Dell is inserting malware into their bios firmware and drivers to slow down performance and break the notebooks in an effort to induce new sales from their customers. Initially, all the diagnostics checked out but problems start after the OS is installed and you start to download the drivers and bios updates. The machine immediately takes a hit when it connects to the Dell website. After that poor performance problems, data corruption issues and finally the bios issues with corruption and inability to access the bios. I strongly believe Dell is doing all this to induce new sales. It is shameful!
