Dell Precision 5510 new battery issue.
Hi community,
Recently I have replaced battery in Dell Precision 5510. Original was 3 cell battery as laptop has mechanical 2,5 inch drive which I didn't need, so I've ordered 6 cell battery from confirmed vendor and battery according to him is original Dell battery.
Laptop did not identify battery and does not charge it.
Information in Bios states that battery is not original, and laptop won't charge it as there is a risk of fire.
Photo of the tag attached.
I have tried all things i have found but non helped. I did keep power button for 30sec with battery disconnected, updated bios, checked connector.
Vendor is sure that his batteries are original ones.
Can somebody please confirm if this battery is original.
Kind regards

As that laptop model is seven years old, there will not be any new Dell batteries. What you bought is a very old Dell battery, which would be degraded and not perform well, or a Dell battery that was "refurbished" by someone else (not Dell or approved supplier) by replacing the internal cells, or an outright counterfeit.
Such batteries might work, or might not, or might fail before long. They could also damage your laptop. If you buy such a battery, make sure to choose a vendor that has a good return/refund policy.
EDIT: it's possible that it could be a Dell battery. If it is, then I think that the date code says it was made in November 2021. But, only the vendor knows if it is truly a Dell battery. And that assumes that this is the Dell Precision 5510 that was released in 2015, and not the Precision 5510 that was released years earlier. (It's confusing when Dell reuses model numbers.)
