Dell Precision 3581 and deep sleep mode
I bought Dell Precision 3581 and installed Linux on it. I wanted to have deep sleep mode enabled, which, in my opinion, is a great convenience when using laptop. With my last Thinkpad I restarted system once a month using sleep mode all the time.
The problem with Dell is massive battery drainage when using sleep
mode. There are chances that my laptop survives night in a sleep mode when it is almost fully charged, but it will run out of the battery otherwise!!!
I'm aware of some threads like:

I tried some BIOS 'hacks' like the ones mentioned in the first of the above links to have S3 Deep Sleep Mode enabled, however with no success.
1) Is it possible to configure my model to force it to Deep Sleep (I found somewhere that it's not possible at all for some Dell models).
2) If so, then: How can I achieve that?

Though not the answer you're seeking, the answer is here.

Thank you ejn63. I held back my response because I was hoping someone else would speak up. As I infer from the linked material and other sources I've scoured on the internet (like this one), it seems that issues with Modern Standby are present on most new laptops, which somewhat reduces my disappointment with my machine.
However, it appears that some manufacturers (Lenovo?) have included switches in the BIOS to restore the old S3 functionality. I was hoping that something similar would be available for my model as well.
I'm still considering trying hibernation, but I have concerns about the SSD wear due to my 64 GB of RAM...

I have exactly the same problem (Precision 3581 + Ubuntu 24.04), solved with this workaround (change the disk mode in BIOS from RAID to AHCI). It is working fine till now.

Hello,
I'm not using the same Dell (Precision 3561 instead) but got a similar problem and solved it with BIOS settings.
Please check this answer: https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/latitude/fan-start-working-once-entering-sleep-mode/647f9ff1f4ccf8a8de4e0aa3?commentId=686b8c03cb44320200ff359e
