dell M4700 boot sequence
hi there,
so i am trying to get my laptop to boot via usb, but it is not showing the option to do so.
i have followed a few youtube videos, but the options they all show is not showing up on my laptop.
so you go into the UEFI boot menu, into boot sequence and it shows windows boot manager.
some of the viddeos show you disable the secure boot, then go back to boot sequence and it should show different options of how you want to boot the laptop, well mine is not.
i have a usb attached with a password reset on it, but there is no way of getting this laptop to boot up using this usb device.
i dont know what else to do, im not sure if booting in legacy mode will help, im not too tech savy and oi dpnt want to play with these settings too much.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
my laptop is currently just a table weight, the system crashed and lost vital windows loadup files, so it wont load,
what's worse, i cant access anything like backup, restore, ect because it wants a password, to which it will not accept my password, which i know is correct. i think it must have reverted it back to an original one, which I dont know, and so i am locked out of everything. thus why im trying a usb password reset route.
i do not want to do a qwhole windows reload because i have files on there that i need to get to, its one big frustrating mess that the laptop caused itself.
thank you for reading.

If the flash drive does not appear in the UEFI boot menu, the system does not see it as bootable. How was it prepared and what OS is on the flash drive?

hi,
so it wouldnt work in UEFI, i had to change it into legacy mode and then it was able to find and use the usb option.
i had a slightly different layout and options to anything shown on the internet. quite annoying.
the password reset didnt work anyway, it cant find the admin/password, probably because my windows is no messed up, it really lost a lot of files. im still trying to get it working still. i managed to find out which password was needed for admin and im able to access into the computer further but system restore goes error and im still working through things in command. what a mess.
