Dell 130w power supply only delivering 90w. Low power warning on 130w system
Can someone help me with my charging problems? When my computer boots the BIOS tells me it's operating in low power mode because the power supply is inadequate. However it is (I believe) the correct power supply.
I've updated the firmware, drivers, and run support assist. But nothing has helped.
What might I be missing? Please help if you can.
computer: Dell Precision 5560 with discrete GPU (requires 130w)
power supply: Dell UBS-c 130w, model# DA130PM170

Victory! I found that it was the power supply which was at fault.
I got a new power supply in the form of a WD19 dock that can deliver 130w, and my computer is now receiving 130w.
I'll try just using my 65w charger when I'm traveling, I don't think use much compute power when I'm on the road.

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter, or it is showing unknown (F2 at powerup to check)?

What is the Dell 5 digit part number on that DA130PM170?
Below are the validated Precision 5560 130W USB-C power adapter part numbers as shown in the internal parts tool =
7MP1P USB-C 130W Chicony
K00F5 USB-C 130W Delta
CT1P3 USB-C 130W Delta
MW1G8 USB-C 130W Delta
0RX66 USB-C 130W Liteon

It doesn't say unknown.
I don't even need to press f2 at startup! The BIOS gives me the low power warning and I have to click to dismiss the warning (there's a check box to forever ignore the warning, but I'd prefer to get this working properly).

@user_ecd5ca 0K00F5 is correct. Just remove the first 0. This all means that you have one of the five validated 130W USB-C power adapter for the Precision 5560.
Is that the 130W USB-C power adapter that shipped from Dell with that Precision 5560? What is the Precision 5560 warranty status? Check HERE by inserting the private Service Tag.

Mine is 0K00F5.
How can I buy the validated number?
The power supplies currently listed for my service tag in the Dell shop are T4V18 and GNH73 - not on your list.

T4V18 = CW1FP 130W USB-C Chicony
GNH73 = 5T2HP 130W USB-C Liteon
Unknown as to why the Precision 5560 internal parts tool does not show those two. But, since both appear below, they must also be validated =

@DELL-ChrisM2 the warranty ended last year. Surely I shouldn't need a warranty to buy a replacement power supply.

* I never stated that you had to have warranty to purchase the offered AC power adapters. I simply asked what is the Precision 5560 warranty status?

@DELL-ChrisM2 I didn't mean to seem snarky but I understand that's how you read it. My apologies and thank you for your help.
Is there anything that I can do to have my computer accept the full 130w?
Is it likely the computer of the power supply that's at fault? The BIOS tools says a 90w power supply

It could be either, but since an adapter is well under $100 vs a mainboard replacement at several hundred dollars plus labor, start with the adapter.

Good point.
A quick follow up on your earlier question about 'unknown', in case it gives a helpful clue. I learned that where the BIOS would have displayed 'unknown' is where I see '90w' (with my 130w power supply). If I plug in a 65w charger it says '65w'. It'll take me a few days to buy another 130w unit.
