DCU 5.2.0 fails to download a BIOS critical update on 7670.
DCU = Dell Command Update, the ms-windows app from Dell .
DCU v5.2.0 on Win11 pro x64 , on Precision 7670.
DCU is the sole method used for applying firmware/hardware level changes for this device.
DCU says there is a critical update (BIOS dated 08/02/2024 8th February 2024).
But clicking "install" reports "1 update(s) failed" (almost immediately on clicking install).
The DCU Activity Log shows :
- Getting Activity Log
Cleared the PDF applicable cache
Found [0] installable package(s)
Found [0] self update packages.
Package 'Dell Precision 7670/8880 System BIOS' not downloaded, skipping apply
[1] Package could not be downloaded
Download incomplete 'Dell Precision 7670 and 7777 System BIOS.
This has been happening daily for many days. There is no detail about exactly why or how the download has failed.
The laptop is functioning normally, including receiving Microsoft-Windows updates, no problems with the wired internet connection.
However, by using my browser , and dell.co.uk/support > Let Dell check for updates... this reports "There are no new updates. The most recent updates are already installed."
Why is DCU 5.2.0 inconsistent with the www.dell.co.uk/support website "Check for updates?"

Version 1.18.0 BIOS is withdrawn because of bad performance
Release date 08 Feb 2024.
Version 1.16.0 is the latest working BIOS version.
Lucky for you Dell has finally done something to DCU so it will not install the bad BIOS any more.
To be on safe side wait few weeks after BIOS release and then maybe time to install.
It's also good practice to see what is here:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/precision-16-7670-laptop/drivers
DCU and web portal are not always in sync.
