Camera failing on Dell Precision 3490

Hello.

We've bought the Precision 3490 company-wide and one of the most frustrating issues right now is the built-in camera randomly disconnecting. You have to log in as administrator, go to Devices and remove it from hidden items.

BIOS is up to date ( I make sure it's up to date by installing it manually ), Windows updates are up to date - Windows 11 Enterprise 10.2.22631 Build 22631.

Any ideas what could be causing this? It happens randomly, the device is not disabkle din BIOS and the only thing you can do is uninstall it.

We are seeing the same thing happen to our Precision 3490 model laptops.  The camera works out of the box and then at some point the camera just disappears and the Device Manager shows it was once connected but now showing disconnected device.  Same troubleshooting as georgianaconstantinescu.  Windows 10 22H2, BIOS updated to latest, removed old drivers, uninstalled and rebooted, went into bios and turned off the camera rebooted and turned it back on in bios and still nothing resolves.

Happening with ours as well. Re-enable in the BIOS, by unchecking/checking camera integration, then at some point issue happens again. Very frustrating

I had this issue and went to replace it with a Latitude 5420 camera (mounting points seem to be the same). When I went to swap it out, I realized the cable to it was ever so slightly ajar. I reseated the cable and then had to enable the camera in the BIOS (the bios setting will be there if it sees a camera). Worked for me.

A firmware was released.

Latitude 5450

Precision 3490

It appears this may also work on additional models and has been re-released for more.

We had a major issue for months (since June/July) with 3550's and are testing it out in our environment now.
