Best Dell Laptops For Engineering Students In 2025, Give Suggestion
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for recommendations on the best Dell laptops for engineering students in 2025. I will be using software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, and maybe some light coding and simulation tools. Battery life, durability, and performance are key for me, especially for multitasking and handling heavy workloads.
I have been considering models like the:
Dell Precision 7000 7670 Mobile Workstation (RTX A3000 12GB GPU, 16" FHD+, Intel 16-Core i7

Dell Inspiron-16 Touchscreen Business Laptop - w/Office Lifetime

But I would love to hear your thoughts. Which Dell laptop would you suggest for an engineering major?
Appreciate any help or experiences you can share. Thanks in advance!

Arrange your priorities. For durability and longevity, Precision beats XPS and certainly trounces Inspiron.
Any notebook with a discrete GPU will not give you long battery runtimes (at least not without disabling the discrete GPU).
There's no one system that will deliver everything you need, at least not at the same level. You may want to consider a desktop system and a more conservatively spec'd notebook to go along with it. You can get equivalent performance to a notebook for half the price with a desktop system, and leave room for a highly portable, long battery run notebook to go with it.
