Audio cutting in and out, and device manager refreshing on Windows 11 Volume License ISO installation
Hey all,
I'm at my wits end and would appreciate any insight into an issue we've been having with Windows 11 and our Precision fleet.
We started migrating to Windows 11 last year and discovered pretty early on that when we installed Windows 11 (from the MS Volume License ISO) that the audio on our Precision laptops (and desktops) cuts in and out. During troubleshooting, we also noticed that device manager constantly refreshes. Event viewer shows the speakers being detected, over and over again. If we install from the DELL OEM image, there is no problem.
We tried all the usual steps of updating/removing/replacing drivers & firmware. Updating Windows. Running the Audio troubleshooter. Removing the audio device, and reinstalling. We can mitigate the problem by either a) uninstalling "wavesapo13de.inf" driver from the Audio Processing Objects b) or changing the Realtek Audio controller driver to a generic Microsoft HD Audio Device driver. Windows update reinstalls the Waves driver, bringing the problem back and depending on the system, the generic driver and wont start the Audio controller. The funny part is both of these drivers are present in the DELL OEM image, so I don't think it's a problem with them specifically but some other conflict.
Unfortunately, DELL support has not been much help and keep telling me they don't support anything that isn't the DELL OEM image.
Any further suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

similar audio problems but not exactly the same with some of my dell latitude 9430 and 9440 2in1 units. these were windows 10 pro x64 installations which were and image restore to these systems from prior latitude 2in1 systems that did have wavesmaxx audio items installed. after the upgrade to windows 11 pro x64 the audio would constantly go off/on every 2 seconds.
During troubleshooting, i also noticed that device manager constantly refreshes. Event viewer shows the speakers being detected, over and over again. if i used a clean install of windows 11 on these units there was no problem.
Fix from what I have experienced is that even though Waves Audio drivers, startup items, etc. are not present or have been removed the services could still be present and running.
check following:
services.msc
set all Waves Audio items to stop and change startup type to Disabled
or
Msconfig.msc - Services tab
Disable all Waves audio items and restart system
