7540 AC power adapter - 180W seems like overkill
I have a Dell Precision Workstation 7540 with the smaller version battery at 64Wh. I find it odd that the spec for the AC power adapter is 180W. I know the power adapter needs to put out enough current to both run the PC and charge the battery at the same time, but 180W sounds excessive when the internal battery is only 64Wh.
Has anyone tried using a lower power AC adapter with success?

Bear in mind that the internal battery cannot power the system at full speed -- it will always run slower. The system may be OK running on a 65W adapter with the discrete GPU disabled -- but it won't run at full speed with the GPU enabled, just as it won't on battery.
If this system has a discrete nVidia GPU, it needs the 180W adapter to run at full speed.
