Which Precision 5820 Motherboards were shipped with TPM 2.0?
Hello,
I have a Dell Precision 5820 with a motherboard that refuses to upgrade from TPM 1.2 to TPM 2.0 and I have tried every possible solution on the internet for months, yet I always see the message: Failed to upgrade due to TPM firmware policy.
Because of this I'd rather replace the motherboard with a model that was shipped with TPM 2.0 or at least is 100% verified upgradeable to 2.0... Can anyone please assist in this search? I don't want to e-recycle this awesome workstation and I feel it has a few more years before it needs to be replaced.
Currently I have the WEC TPM chip with manufacturer version 5.81 and Specification version 1.2 if anyone knows a sure way to upgrade it and avoid motherboard replacement.
Thank you!

If your TPM update intention was to install Windows 11, you don't have to upgrade TPM 2.0. I performed clean installation of Win 11 24H2 on several systems with TPM 1.2 without any issue.
Just set BIOS settings to default value. Then, verifying that it set to UEFI Boot Mode, Secure Boot is ON, TPM is ON.
To update TPM firmware, scroll down and expand the installation instructions. Follow the process to disable auto-provisioning and clear TPM before you can run update process. https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=wn7c4&oscode=wt64a&productcode=precision-5820-workstation

I had the same problem and successfully installed TPM 2.0. My motherboard model is 002KVM. You can refer here:
