Upgrading Windows 10 to Windows 11 on a Dell Precision 7920
Hello everyone,
When I purchased my Dell Precision 7920 desktop a few years ago, it originally came with Windows 10 Pro for Workstations. Now, I would like to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro for Workstations.
Is it possible to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro for Workstations on a Dell Precision 7920 desktop?

Yes, run Windows update first to see the offer for Win 11 upgrade. If not, run Windows 11 installation assistant from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows11
Only clean Windows 11 installation will require to select Windows 11 Pro for Workstation, the upgrade process will be automatically select Pro for Workstation edition.

With all the issues on 11, why would you want that on a workstation?
why not get a LTSC IoT license for 10-20$ and have support till 2032?

Win 10 is getting support until end of 2025, but LTSC as IoT version will for a couple more years (lean/clean win, common to be used for things like point of sale stuff etc, basically stuff that doesnt "work" like a regular laptop/desktop but runs win).
So unless you have something that "needs" win 11, you are better of to stay on 10, and dont have to deal with the update/driver (UI etc) mess they still have every couple of month on 11.
I basically would look for a digital key, there is no "activation" on enterprise stuff, you just run something like MAS (activation script), i didnt even care to do a clean install (to put my license key in), as long as you have a valid key (so you own a legal win copy) just running the script (to "convert" 10 pro to LTSC IoT) and reboot is enough.

its like 15$ for a digital copy with key, techpowerup has a deal with goodoffer, use TP30 at checkout for a discount.
