U.2 drive not recognized by T7810 Bios
Hi,
I have an Samsung PM1733 (Part n° DX74Y) 8To (U.2 PCIe 4) witch I put in a PCIe adapter.
When I boot, I can't see the drive in Bios (so I can't install OS on).
I know that Precision workstations support PCIe 3, but I thought that it will "downgrade" the PCIe4 to PCIe 3.
Also, when I use a Dell P4610 with the same adapter, I can see my drive!
Any suggestions?
Many thanks.

The T5810/T7810/T7910 were the first of Dell workstations to offer storage controllers that could work with non volatile memory express. Besides of Dell OEM drives that were shipped with Ultra Speed drives, anything else that users could add to the system were bonus and benefit of trial and error.
Not every NVMe drives and every PCIe adapters will work with those workstations. If you got one that did not work, try different drives/adapters.

Ok, I will try as other devices ...
by the way, do you have any idea about those ports in the back of some drives, like those:
Many thanks.

That looks similar to NVMe cartridge adapter. It would be line up with tray or backplane.
For example, you will find the connector of NVMe carrier on 5820/7820 with flexbay. The carrier has similar connector and it would be connected into a flexbay adapter before connecting to the backplane.

Just FYI It's called a oculink port.
it can be used to connect drives (equiped with this type of port).
Next, example of using.
