T7910 Upgrade for 360 video editing and rendering using Premiere Pro
Hi all
I have a T7910 and is in the process of upgrading to support 360 video editing and rendering using Premiere Pro. T7910 can handle HD editing and rendering with flying colors. It can also do 4k editing and rendering but struggles with 360 editing and rendering.
Tried editing 3840x2160 8minute video taken by max 360 and imported into Premiere Pro. While doing 3840x2160 playback and monitored the performance, CPU is hitting 100 % utilization while GPU utilization is less than 50%.
However when doing export or rendering both CPU and GPU % utilisations are hitting 100% and T7910 struggles and sometimes freezes.
Current configuration:
CPU - Xeon 8c 2.9Hz, 64Gb RAM, K2200 GPU, Windows 10 on m.2 SSD on Ultra Speed NVMe adapter.
I plan to replace the CPU to Xeon 8c 3.2 HZ and RTX A4000 Quadro GPU.
Any thoughts or concerns on the planned replacement? Will the T7910 accommodate the RTX A4000 graphics card?
I appreciate your recommendations.
Thanks
Mark

The following items improved the T7910 performance to support 4K 360 video playback and rendering.
Overall computer performance is much improve relative to the original T7910 configuration and performance. Simple file transfer and opening of file, application execution are noticeably faster.
I was debating between the RTX A4000 vs the GeForce 3070 ti and decided on installing the RTX A4000 for the following reasons:
Much improvement in playing and rendering 360 4k video. The T7910 no longer stalls on playback and reduce rendering time by a half.
Both the Dell Ultra-Speed Drive Quad NVMe M.2 PCIe x16 Card and the RTX A4000 GPU were clean installs. Plug and play with no hardware/software issues even after a week of constant use.
However, the T7910 can still be improve by upgrading the CPU and memory for faster speeds.
The T7910 is very stable with no issues after the upgrades. I thought the T7910 couldn’t be upgraded and would end up as a boat anchor. I’m glad to do the upgrades and extended its life for at least another 5 years.

Since it's a dual cpu system and by your message "feels" you have only one cpu installed, why not adding a 2nd identical to your current instead of changing it ?

@majpogi
Doubt A4000 is supported. Quadro RTX 4000 would work fine.

Mah, personally I think that the A4000 should work. The fact that it's pcie 4.0 doesn't matter a lot, it's backward compatible.
It uses a single 6pin power connector, and 140W of max use... it's way under what the 7910 can power
