T7910 SAS Controller Failed
I have a T7910 and recently the SAS controller has failed . . . it may work long enough to boot from but will start to cause disk errors that takes the system down. I am using an HBA adapter and the 2 sata ports now with everything running just fine. The problem is that with the proprietary cabling for the hot swap drive connections I end up not really able to use all 4 3.5 bays, and I'm needing to dedicate the HBA to a VM where I have virtualized TrueNAS. My HBA has a flat sas connection (I have 2 of these PCI HBA), but the dell cable requires the square mini sas connector. Is there a cable adaptor that would allow me to connect the sas connector on the dell proprietary cable to the flat sas connector on my HBA? I have looked, but am not finding anything. the only other fix would potentially be an HBA with the right connector on it. Has anyone with this tower found some workarounds for this situation?
