Support Assistant falsely reports failing hard drive
FYI
Schedule SA system scan flashed doom for an unidentified hard drive and suggested contacting tech support for a warranty replacement. I did so. Promptly received support request to identify the hard drive since SA did not provide them with the information. System has two drives. Reasonable request. Was asked to scan and submit an ePSA log history. No idea where it is located.
I was able to rerun SA tests. All items passed. I shut down the computer, restarted, entered preboot diagnostics, ran the quick test. All items passed. Entered advanced diagnostics and selected both hard drives. They passed. Informed tech support via email SA's report was false and we could close the case number.
Tech support asked for confirmation to close the case number. For confidence, I again ran SA, the preboot quick test, and this time a complete system advance diagnostic test. Everything passed. I confirmed to tech support to close the case number as issue resolved.
But for status SA still shows a "warning." Sure looks like there might be a bug lurking somewhere.
Hope you folks find the information helpful.
