ram memory of different brands
Hello, in my 5820 I have installed 64gb of ram ecc 2666mhz of Crucial brand.
I am planning to double the amount and occupy all the modules available in my workstation, but my local supplier only has Kingston brand memory, I made sure they have the same or the closest specifications, such as 16gb, 2666mhz, CL19, 1.2v, ECC Should I be wary that the brands are not the same or should I be calm with matching specifications? The last thing I want is for the system to become unstable.
PD: For Xeon.

I see many of the above Dell oem ram for 5820 are non-ECC. not sure where you got the spec of ECC memory?
for example in list of Dell oem ram, the 4x16 GB is
DP/N C5N22 16GB DDR4, 3200MHz, 2Gx64, 2RX8, Unbuffered, 288 pin, Dual Rank, 1.2V, Non-ECC, Non-Encrypted,
Adata AO2P32NCST2-BZ7SHD,
Hynix HMA82GU6DJR8N-XN,
Kingston KC5N22-HYD/KC5N22-MIE,
Micron MTA16ATF2G64AZ-3G2J1,
Samsung M378A2K43EB1-CWE
any of the above brand is ok.

Hello @redxps630 indeed, the Dell support page indicates Non-ECC memories, that is so confusing because the machine definitely runs with ECC, I bought it like that with 32GB and when I updated years ago, it was also with ECC.
PD: For Xeon.

some motherboard can run both non-ECC and ECC memory. Dell oem are all non-ECC
one thing might be true. I doubt you can mix ECC and non-ECC memories. It is either all or none

On the contrary, the 5820 and 7820 with Xeon CPU are using only ECC, RDIMM memory. As for OP question, mixing brands with same specs should work. Here is the memory specs and memory configurations guide.

Quite true, non-ECC and ECC can't be mixed Mixing brand names, as long as all other specs are the same, shouldn't be an issue. My Precision 3620 came with Hynix and I added A-Tech to it. A;Tech has lifetime warranty and is a great way to save $ on somewhat older machines.
All good brands listed so far in this thread. Be sure to stay away from KVR (Kingston Value RAM), as it's been hit or miss in Dell's.
