Properly verifying a Dell computer before purchase.

Hello, new to the community. This is my first post, I was looking At a few desktops on ebay and came across Dell precision. 3640 MT its been gutted for its hard-drive and is listed as no os/ bios locked, after looking around i see the only way to remove the bios password is to request a reset code, my main concern. Is that I wont get approved for the reset code seeing im buying the computer 3rd hand on the internet....  so thats really my "question" what is proper proof of ownership when I request a bios password reset???

You will need the information from the current, registered owner to qualify for ownership transfer and support for the password removal, and you will still be paying for a support call for the issue.

If the system is locked and the seller can't provide that information, buy something else or realize you'll be purchasing an unlocked mainboard to replace the locked one, so add that to your purchase cost.

@ejn63 that was my assumption that Dell would want previous owner info to swap ownership before getting a password reset, thank you for your input 😁
