Precision T5810 with Asus Hyper M.2 X16 vs Asus Hyper M.2 X16 Gen 4 Card
Hello from Germany!
Im running a T5810 with CPU E5 1620-V3 and 64 GB RAM
Windows Server 2022 Standard Desktop Edition
Config:
2 x 500 GB SSD SATA configured from DELL Bios as Mirror (RAID 1) = System drive for Windows Server 2022
4 x 1 TB Samsung NVMe mounted to the Asus Hyper M.2 X16 card.
Card is in Slot #3 and all 4 NVMe are visible at Windows Diskmanager.
When using the same drives on Asus Hyper M.2 X16 Gen 4 Card, only 2 drives are accesible and shown up. I swaped the drives all over the 4 gen card but no matter what I do, only 2 drives are visible.
Checking with diskpart, using list disk command: same result, only 2 drives.
Swaping the card to the blue PCIe Slot #5; same result.
Any hints for me in this case?
BTW: speed is brilliant using the 1 gen Card, see screen shot

Hello, that generation of the Asus card is not compatible with the chipset used in the T5810 (gen 4 is pci-e 4.0), I think. Plus your T5810 is pci-e v3.0 , so there would be no speed benefit by using the gen4 of the Asus card ( that supports pci-e v4.0 )
