Precision T1700 - TPM 2.0
My Precision T1700 has Intel Xeon E3-1271 v3 CPU (Haswell).
Any word as to whether 'Intel PTT' or TPM 2.0 will be supported?
Currently shows as TPM 1.2 in Windows 10.
From reading other posts it would appear that Haswell or newer, should be capable of supporting Intel PTT.
Trying to establish if I will be able to install Windows 11 (without hacks).
There are currently no updates for TPM 2.0 listed in the support section for this machine.
No Events found!

The 2013 released Precision T1700 is not on the tested/validated Windows 11 list.
Dell computers tested for upgrade to Windows 11

Thanks.
In case others see this post, it would appear from that list that Precision T1700 will not be supported.

@cones72I think you can install it on unsupported CPUs, but as far as I know the TPM 2.0 requirement requires a registry hack during installation to bypass it. That is not very future-proof so wanted to avoid any hacks if possible.
The main thing I wanted to solve was if the BIOS for the T1700 could be updated to support 'Intel PTT' as this can be used in place of TPM 2.0. According to others on Reddit etc. this tech started rolling out with Intel 4th gen/Haswell. Looks like Dell will not be supporting this machine though according to the list in the post above. In any case, I'm not even sure if Intel PTT is present in my CPU/Motherboard combo, but would be nice to have confirmation.
Anyway, I will be giving the install of Windows 11 a shot and will try to remember to report back on the outcome.

Intel 8th gen cpu or newer is officially supported for Windows 11, though I've heard on LTT that it should install on older gen cpus (just that windows update won't work).

Yes, a full install of windows 11 ( not an upgrade ) is going to be permitted on unsupported cpu configurations.
Microsoft will deliver monthly security updates when detecting such installation, but will NOT deliver feature updates

Since 11 is not officially released its actually impossible to say what Microsoft will or won't do.
Installing windows 11 insider on a T1700 does work but the cpu and TPM are not supported.
There is no INTEL PTT for this model with the latest bios from 2018.

TPM 1.2 is not supported by Win11 preview.
But the TPM version check may by bypassed during installation. There is a trick when you can call the cmd console in between and start the Registry Editor.
It is not a hack. It is a developer backdoor, since in Microsoft they believe that their management team went too far with such totalitarian restrictions.

They can easily stop devloper mode in the final release of windows 11 in a few weeks for the RTM release of windows.
What that means is that it won't upgrade and wont be free.
Its not helpful to give assurances on what Microsoft will or will not do before 11 is officially released.

>They can easily stop devloper mode
Without doubt. That is a big trial, they see the reaction of the public and decide, will they disable the backdoor, the TPM2 requirement, or leave as it is.
Judging on MS history, any decision is equally possible.
But there is another possibility. Systems installed with TPM bypass may probably be upgraded to normal win11 without a failure, since it is only an GUI installer restriction.
And please, stop flooding the topics with excessive self-proclamations. It is very disturbing.

Wow, not sure what's going on with some of the previous posts.
Anyway, a quick update from me:
I'm going to wait until RTM release to just try it and see, but again from my current knowledge there will be no way to install unmodified Windows 11 on the T1700. Whether we will be able to bypass the TPM check in the RTM release remains to be seen. I really hope it can, as the machine is perfectly capable of running it otherwise.

I am posting on the forum with a T1700 with Windows 11 pre release.
What is not yet clear is whether or not you can buy windows 11 in October to be used on non supported machines and still get security updates etc.
I am sure that Retail Windows 10 and OEM windows 10 will go away once windows 11 is released.
Which is why you should buy an OEM WIN10 DVD or Retail Copy of WIN10 pro USB Flash drive NOW because in October those will go away forever.
OEM Windows 10 Recovery Forever DVD $15
Windows 10 Pro Retail USB Flash Drive $199
ISO Downloads of 10 will go away in October 2025.
The latest windows 10 ISO (FREE) should also be downloaded NOW and installed via the media tool.
Saving the 21H1 ISO to an external hard drive that is only on to backup data is a good Free strategy to keep using windows 10 even after its gone.

Both Whynot Win11 and PCHealth Check say NO for CPU and NO for TPM on my T1700 with latest bios.
There is no INTEL PTT to switch to which would make the T1700 more likely to get support.
Start flighting now by running Insider Preview builds on your devices to use with the latest SDKs and to see what's next for Windows.
