Precision T1700 sff graphics card upgrade

I have a T1700 sff, can the pcie x4 slot support the gtx750ti (max tdp 60w) , i have read that the slot support 50w , is that fixed or is there room to use the 60w card???

Then I'll go for the LP 1050ti. My only question is, is the PCIe slot. I'm gonna assume graphics cards are universal between x4 and x16 slot, assuming there is no difference in terms of outputs, especially in gaming. If it doesn't fit in the x16 then there's probably an adapter for it or use the x4 slot instead.

I really appreciate you helping me out! thank you!

The other thing I should point is running 75w cards on 240w-265w PSU's (your is 255w) is outside of past Dell specs.  However, YouTubers have been doing it for years with a certain Dell gen.  Due to such and no negative feedback from actual users, my answers in regards have the support of Dell moderation, one of whom is an engineer.

Precision T1700 SFF Owner's Manual

The 2 slots aren't the same for power and speed.  I pretty much doubt a GPU can plug into the little black slot.  Not sure why in the manual it references x1 and x16, yet by MB layout, then it's x4 and x16.

I was hoping the referenced videos would show which slot they use.  I don't have a T1700 SFF to experiment with, and can't tell you exactly how the cards fit.

I can tell you the x4 and x16 slots don't have the same power and speed.  Some are only 25w or 10w depending on the model.  Other than the screengrabs and what's in the manual, I couldn't tell you more about it.

There are some exceptions whereas the x4 slot gets used for a GPU, but it might be for a GPU with less power.

The 1st screengrab is from pg. 50 if you want to look it up.

Thanks for the kudos.

Another thing I can tell you if you don't know already is x4 is 4 lanes and x16 is 16 lanes.  There's the difference in speed.

@DELL-Cares hi,

I went to look at some of the cards you listed in this post, and one of them I just want to be sure it can fit before I hit the checkout button.  Please let me know either way.

@AdmiralBlindManJRK , while awaiting for the response from DELL-Cares, whom may or may not responding to a three years old post, I want to point out that the earlier response was erred to include full height graphics cards.  They do not fit in a small form factor chassis.

A Quadro K4000 will fit in a full tower only.

@Chino de Oro

Oh I see. So, as long as the video graphics card is a low-profile or low-height configuration, and as long as it doesn't overload the PSU (power consumption), it should do okay?  Also, do you know if when I do put in a video graphics card, will I still be able to use the onboard DisplayPort(s) and VGA port for my existing monitors?

Thanks in advance!

@AdmiralBlindManJRK , yes, assuming your system is a small form factor.  It will support a low profile, half height, slot powered card, something like a 30w Quadro P400 will fit, and it can provide outputs for up to three monitors at 4k res.  Note that it's only an example for referencing information, but it has weaker performance than a full height, 80w K4000.  You must shop for the card that met your needs.

About switchable graphics, I do not know.  You can perform test setup to find out, a similar test was recently done at this thread.

Thank you for the response.  At least I can reasonably shop for a card that fits my needs as well as my budget.

Thanks again, I appreciate it! 😊👍🏻
