Hello,
Precision T1700 SFF is tested to work with the following graphics card by Dell and I would recommend you the same.
Feel free to private message us for any additional query along with the service tag of the system.

The AMD Firepro W5000 does not fit in this case, it's too wide.

W5000 was too wide for the case.

I have used a gt 730 gddr5 low profile version in that 4x slot. It worked perfectly. Also i was able to overclock it a bit.

Same sort of question.
refurbished Precision T1700 SFF
Xeon E3-1246 CPU
16GB ram
stock power supply
Windows 10 Pro

Would like to migrate my existing EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS 1GB low profile card from my Vostro 220 SFF to the T1700 to use for basic 3D CAD, photos, and video editing, specifically converting VHS tapes to 1080p mpeg 4 files using OpenShot. I know the vid card isn't as much a factor in this as the CPU and RAM; just prefer to use it rather than replace it if it's not really necessary.
Any foreseeable problems / issues with this?
Thanks for your input!

The 255w PSU in the T1700 SFF won't have any problem powering the 40w 8400GS.

You put a Low Profile 1650 in the T1700 sff? If so do I really need the extender/converter? Which card and cable brand?

Did you manage to upgrade? Which card did you use? Did it fit?

Hi @FinOrange ,
https://m.youtube.com/results?sp=mAEA&search_query=Precision+t1700+sff+gtx+1650
What mainly came up for sff models with the GTX 1650 is sff models quite similar to the T1700 sff insides - Optiplex's 7010/7020/9010/9020. Check out the videos. Installation should be quite simple.
I don't believe you need the extender with the LP 6" card. You would for the 10" card and run it outside of the case.
Also, what CPU do you have? I'd be happy to check for any potential bottleneck. I'd like to make sure the best GPU is being suggested to go with your CPU. With GPU prices being thru the roof right now, may be we can a better fit if that's the case.
In YouTube search bar, "Precision T1700 sff gaming" might also bring up related videos.

T1700 SFF with GTX 1050LP
And hopefully I didn't cause any confusion with any of my posts above. The T1700 MT chassis is basically the same as the Optiplex's I mentioned. So I wasn't sure which chassis the sff has, if it's newer than the T1700 MT chassis or same gen.

I posted on Reddit a few weeks back asking if I should upgrade anything, or just save up for a better PC.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/m0z604/is_it_worth_the_upgrade/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
As you can see in the 1st and 2nd link the blue bar is at the bottom and the small black bar is at top, that is why I'm second-guessing if 1650 LP can fit.

The specs are in the last link. I also found a Reddit post where the guy had the same problem as me. He swapped it into a bigger case with a 1660 Super, though I don't know if it's worth 600 or just save and get a better PC whenever prices go down.

Entirely up to you if you want to save for a better PC later. I can't decide that for you. MT's are the best for expanding. You do have a pretty good PC as it is.
I did take a look at your reddit posts.
I'm sure you saw it in videos, the GTX 1050 ti is the best fit for your CPU. Please see screengrabs.
