Precision 7820 Flexbay Drives Not Recognized Anymore

Hello,

My user's desktop has 3 2TB NVMe drives installed in Flexbay drives, using both upper slots and the bottom right slot.  With all of them being nearly full and the user getting an error about one of the drives reaching end of life (the error didn't specify which drive is failing), we decided to upgrade the drives to 4TB.  After cloning 2 of the drives, I tried reinstalling the drives, but they were not being recognized by Windows.  When I tried putting back the original 2TB drives, they are no longer being recognized by Windows.

I looked at the instructions for removing/installing NVMe Flexbays--I only removed the carrier, not the entire assembly, but otherwise, I don't seem to be missing any steps.  Both the original and cloned NVMe drives are recognized via external enclosures, but we don't have enough of those to use for all 3 drives (and the user already has multiple external drives).  What can I try to have the drives recognized?

Are flexbay connecting to a MegaRAID controller?  Failed drive(s) should have been rebuilt by the controller to be recognized.  Launch the LSI interface and identify which drive needs to rebuild.

It looks like it might have the MegaRAID controller.  How do I access the LSI interface?

Usually, it can be accessed with CTRL + I or CTRL + H at boot.  Or from one time boot menu F12.

I didn't find any LSI interface in F12, and Ctrl + H/I did not bring up any different screens at bootup.

I tried downloading the MegaRAID LSI client from the downloads page from the desktop.  I went through the default prompts.  When I launched it, it wanted me to "sign in" to the "server" (I don't believe the PC is being used as a server), but I wasn't sure what credentials it was asking for; none of the ones I tried worked.

The drives did not appear to be in a "RAID" configuration--the user did not specify that they were.  1 drive holds the OS, and the other 2 are data drives.

So, when you were in one time boot menu, you selected Device Configuration and did not see AVAGO MegaRAID interface?

I did see it listed there.  However, when I hit "Enter" on it, all I got was a screen that said "Healthy," with no other options.

However, I noticed there was a "->" icon at the top, so when I hit Right Arrow a couple of times, I found the AVAGO MegaRAID configuration.

Right now, the remaining original 2TB drive is in a "RAID 0" virtual drive configuration by itself; the new 4TB drives are visible, but they are in "Unconfirmed Good" state.  Should I delete the existing configuration and make a new one with all 3 drives?  Note that the 2TB will also be cloned and replaced.

Depending on applications, that would be your preference to select RAID level.  I remember that MegaRAID 9460-16i can support 0, 1, 5, 10.

But, the main query of this thread has been resolved.  The flexbays are connected to LSI MegaRAID controller.  Therefore, new drives (SSD) must be added through Configuration Management of MegaRAID controller interface to be recognized.

To learn how to configure arrays and navigate through the MegaRAID menu, review this article  ttps://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000147052/management-and-configuration-of-raid-arrays-on-lsi-megaraid-9361-8i-9440-9460-and-9341-raid-controllers
