Precision 5810 - PCI lanes running out ! Considering dual GPU (both double-slotted)
@Chino de Oro
Hey, it's been running great. I have a question. I've heard of folks running Crossfire (Yes it's dead, but interested).
Do you have any advice, when I'm using a (LANE-5) 2-slot MSI RX Vega56 (blower style), (LANE-2) Fenvi Wifi-7 card, and (LANE-3) ASUS ROG Hyper dual-SSD.
Is there any way I can expand, arrange (or sacrifice) something in order to achieve dual Vega56's ? I can score one cheap ($85 CAD), opposed to upgrading my current GPU and sitting on mine.
Please tell me your thoughts. Other's opinions and thoughts are welcome as well! Thanks everyone for being the awesome community keeping Dell simply the best!

I have looked up and it's confirmed that AMD is supporting Vega56 with "mGPU" technology however only up to 2 Vega 56's due to it's age. So, therefor, Crossfire isn't quite dead, just rebranded, updated and working great apparently. ^^ YEESSSSSS
So please, anyone, give me some peace of mind, am I yanking my wifi 7 card or what should I do !

Glad to hear that your system is running great from the last upgrade.
About your plan to upgrade dual graphics card of MSI RX Vega56, I don't think it's a good upgrade although the price is tempting. When comparing what you may gain and what you will lose. If practical gaining is not much, then it is not worthy of the trade off.
The main reason is unsupported hardware. Your Precision 5810 can support maximum of 300w total graphics power. That was the reason why the T5810 has only two of dual 6-pin (or two 8-pin) power connectors for graphics. Each of your MSI RX Vega56 may pull up to 210w and requires two 8-pin power connectors. That is over 400w of graphics power.
Besides going through the hurdle of providing power to both MSI RX Vega56 graphics cards, you will lose two of PCIe slots to accommodate dual slots cards. Translating to losing the Fenvi WiFi 7 card and limiting the NVMe SSD usage to only two drives maximum.
As for gaining, crossfire is not dead but you will need to verify your usage to see if your applications and games can take advantage of crossfire setup as many of today applications and games may not support it.

Thanks for the speedy reply :)
So, on the bright side:
I have the 825w PSU and have some molex splitters/adapters, and also my ROG is the one which only has two slots.
I guess my biggest concern would be on how to split it or pull the required power from my PSU. I'm not using SATA at all, and there is an AUX I believe. I will have to be careful, because the provided dual 6-pin is from the same harness, is it not ? I can't split that four ways safely.
I looked into this mGPU feature that AMD is using (it's newer technology that sounds promising) allowing a seamless gain to modern apps/games, maybe even all. To be honest, I don't really use my 5810 much on the web. There is the odd time I play the FFVII remake (offline), which might see a gain as I'm using the e5-2697A v4. In the future, I'm going to attempt the bios mod for OC'ing the e5-2697 v3, where you only utilize 10 cores but some report running a stable 4-4.5GHz. In a nutshell, my CPU isn't all that ideal for gaming, so hoping the mGPU with two Vega's will help until I attempt the modification.
Worse comes to worse, I could make a cheap gaming PC, and sell it with both Vega's to purchase a GTX 2080 for my system. I kind of got impulsive and went ahead and picked up the second Vega today. Here's to hoping!
