Precision 3660 firmware update stuck at 0%
Precision 3660 Tower
I have seen several messages here from people whose BIOS updates get stuck at 0%. But for me the problem keeps recurring.
I am able to do a hard reset of the computer by holding the power button down for 30 seconds and then waiting for the computer to take me into recovery mode. I opt for resetting the BIOS to the last stable version and then it reboots normally. The problem is that of course it keeps trying to update the firmware every few days because the problem is not resolved. I think I am on the fifth attempt now.
Is there a way to skip this update, which doesn't seem to work properly?

To prevent automatic firmware update, go to BIOS settings and disable the UEFI capsule update option.

The catch is remember to disable auto updates each time BIOS is updated.
I also moved this thread to the Precision forum.

I was having this exact problem and have not been able to figure out what it was. Until today.
I ready another post somewhere that said to unplug all non essential periferals. I had a WiFi dongle and blue tooth dongle as our Desktop did not come with this installed(?). As soon as I unpluged these the Flash progress started to move.
Hope this can help other.

Thanks for the steer - I had the same issue with a Precision 3280, and removing a bluetooth dongle immediately allowed the update to progress.

Thank you, this resolved for me too. Took out the Bluetooth usb dongle and immediately it went from 0% to 30% in a second. It seems to be carrying on now! Many hours saved!
