Precision 3650 upgrading network issues
I would like to ask you for advice. I want to upgrade my internet speed to 2.5Gb and use a WIFI card as a hotspot for my phone and other devices to replace the router.
I contacted a Dell technician to inquire about compatible hardware, but their professional response was to use:
1) Intel(R) Ethernet 10G 2P X550-t Adapter
2) Intel(R) WiFi 6 AX210
But I'm confused by the following:
1) The mainboard can be connected to a 2.5GbE Ethernet controller, so why do they require a PCIe card?
2) The Wi-Fi card can use the existing dual antennas, so why do they require a box (transceiver)?
P.S. I'd like to get a quote from Dell to cover the warranty period.

1. The 2.5 GBit Ethernet and 10G Ethernet card is optional, not standard -- do you have one of those already? If not, the base model is only 10/100/1000.
2. If you have that wireless card already, and aren't using it for your main connection, you don't need another card.
You should just need the 2.5G Ethernet card if you don't already have that.

Has anyone installed a LAN backplane using the connector at position 2 on the system board below to use 2.5Gb broadband? Is this component as shown in the picture? Thanks

You never answered the questions from your first post. Does your unit have the connector for that module? It appears to be optional and I highly suspect it's present only on systems with that factory option.

I didn't select either of these modules when I purchased the system. I also understand that according to the system specifications, the Wi-Fi module requires an AIC WKAN card for WLAN on the PCIe slot. I just don't understand why the 2.5Gb bandwidth isn't being run on the motherboard using the module shown in the picture?
Isn't this part a standard part?
