Precision 3620 MT Case motherboard upgrade

I have a Dell 3620 and I'm very happy with the case. It currently has a i7 6700 in it. I have a i7 9700 I'd like to put in this case but I realize the chipset on the current mb does not support 9th gen cpus. I have to believe that there are other Dell tower models with a similar motherboard footprint that will fit in this case and take a 9th gen cpu. Anyone happen to know of any?

If you are planning to buy a Dell motherboard + 9th gen CPU + compatible memory, they are together will cost as much as another system.  You can start with the 9th gen CPU systems below in performance order:

Precision board with 9th gen CPU is from Precision 3630.

XPS board with 9th gen CPU is from XPS 8930.

OptiPlex board with 9th gen CPU is from OptiPlex 5070/7070

So the motherboards from those models will fit in my case?

I have a dell sff machine here with the newer ram and CPU in it and want to move that to my tower case. It looks like the 3630 motherboard will be great, added bonus of the m.2 slot. Does this look like the right one:

No, they won't fit your case.  The suggestion was for you to start with those 9th gen CPUs systems for a whole system replacement as cost effective upgrade.

If you don't limit yourself with just Core-i 9th gen processors, there are better performance workstations with Xeon or Core-X series processors and solid chassis to look into.
