Precision 3280 maximum number of displays
Hi, I'm speccing up a new system based on the Dell Precision 3280. I'm looking to drive 6 monitors, on Windows 11. I'd like to know if the integrated graphics' 3 display ports can be used at the same time as an nVidia T1000's four mDP outputs? Thanks in advance.

According to Google's AI, the answer is yes. Other than that, I couldn't find the answer in any Dell doctrine - not the Tech Guide and not the Owner's Manual. I still attached the Tech Guide below the screengrabs. If by chance the answer is no, using monitors that you can daisy chain comes to mind.

Hi Brad, thanks for the response. I don't have much confidence in the optimistic Google AI answer - it is not supported by its own arguments: Simply having two cards fitted does not necessarily mean they can be combined, and laptop GPU switching for power reasons is not the same thing as simultaneous running.
I'd still like to hear from someone with a Precision 3280 that has managed to use the integrated graphics and GPU card at the same time to drive multiple monitors. Otherwise I'd have to look at a bigger workstation to accommodate a Matrox 8 port card. Thanks very much.

Hi, has any Dell Precision / Windows 11 user managed to combine integrated and GPU graphics output (simultaneously)? For example to drive one monitor off integrated graphics and a second monitor off the GPU? Thanks.

Did you ever get an answer here? I have the same scenario.

No I didn't. I presume it can't be done, as each card would likely have its own display arrangement control software; I can't find any mention of over-arching Windows control for this. So instead it would require a multi-out graphics card. If you don't need too powerful a GPU then there have been various NVIDIA options over the years, or there's the brand new Matrox LUMA Pro A380 to drive up to 8 monitors!

Quadro cards can also handle multi-minitors. The P1000 can handle 4 of them.
@nicholas_h Please never mind that laptops were mentioned in the screengrab a ways above. That wasn't meant to be part of my answer.
Precision's that have room and power for it run more than 1 GPU card all the time.

@nicholas_h We'll be testing it shortly - early answer from Dell was yes it is possible - and on other PC's etc this works just fine (Using it on the machine I'm on right now, just not a Dell Workstation). We'll be confirming in the next few weeks, and I'll post the answer.
