Orange light around power button, and number 2 only blinking

Hi there, i have a dell t3500. The problem is, that is shows orange light and with number 2 blinking. It turns off right after i press the button and the orange light is there. Sometimes it would be green but it shuts down right after a while. It did give me an error of Checkpoint, WAKE. but only once, when i blew the board with warm air to remove any humidity. Also kept it in the sun but nothing happened. So I think it might also be the problem with thermal paste shall I do that or what can it be when the light number 2 is blinking and orange light is around the power button. So recently I tried it again and it is the same or ends like around the power button nothing else works only want to second thing and then the system shut down all by self no display no nothing all the rams are fine everything else is fine so couldn't be the power supply or thermal place or what can it be.

First thing you want to do is replacing the coin cell battery as part of require maintenance for system at that age.  Then refer to this diagnostic and status lights for troubleshooting  https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000123890/precision-t3500-t5500-t7500-workstations-diagnostic-lights-and-beep-codes

@Chino de Oro hi there, thanx for the reply. Did that. Right now i have orange / amber light, 2 blinking. This is not in that table. I blew it with a blower, right now. Removed the processor, almost 20 percent thermal paste remaining, not even 20 though.

Even applied new thermal paste. Still amber light, stable, for a few seconds, light 2 blinking, and after a few seconds , fans stop, lights off.

Hello,

light 1 does it ever turn green ? I'm wondering if the led failed somehow and is Pb12 without being able to see 1. Turning off feels a self protection

@mazzinia_ all the lights are green. Only 2 is blinking. And after a few seconds, power off.

Try each RAM stick, one stick at a time, to see if one or more failed.  RAM failure isn't too uncommon, and the T3500 is older.

@bradthetechnut did that, even without rams the same result.

Seems like a bad MB if error didn't change with RAM removed.

Hard to tell if it's a bad PSU.  Amazon and others sell PSU testers.  You mentioned besides the error lights, it turns on and then off.  Dell OEM PSU's might be farely cheap on eBay if you feel like testing it that way.  I'm still leaning toward bad MB though.
