Once Bootstrap has been updated I can no longer install any firmware before 2021, how can I fix this?

On one of my three R7920's it looks like the Bootstrap has been updated and I can no longer install any firmware before 2021 this is what Dell says - "iDRAC9 firmware cannot downgrade/rollback to iDRAC9 firmware 4.40.10.00 or older after updating to the June 2024 iDRAC9 firmware release."

I just got this computer and they had updated the Lifecycle and bios and everything before they shipped it to me. I have it back to 4.40.40.00 but that's as far as I can go.

Does anybody having any ideas on a way around this I need to get down to 3 .30 .30 .30.

Hello,

if it's the same as with some bios updates, there is no way to revert the change due to security features preventing it on chip.

@mazzinia_ I wonder if there's a way to change the attributes on the life cycle update to reflect a newer date so it wouldn't be restricted?

it's not date restricted, and the firmware are security protected. The only thing would be direct programming the bios chip using an external programmer

so with this being the idrac lifecycle firmware you are saying the BIOS? I am quite sure the BIOS is separate from this.

If anyone has any ideas please. I need to get the idrac down to 3.30.30.30

Or Dell needs to add IPMI fan control back into a new firmware version--we would all love this.

It's separate, but it's practically a 2nd bios ( thus I simply wrote that ).

Have you tried

Steps to Roll Back iDRAC9 Firmware using the iDRAC9 user interface and RACADM | Dell US

if this can apply to your situation ?

yes, I have tied all of that:
