No POST problem - Precision 7820 Tower
Hi everybody,
I have a No POST problem with my maching (Precision 7820 Tower), I get a [2 amber ,2 white] blinking pattern, and sometimes it shows [3,2] (which is very odd) , nothing is shown in the screen, keyboard CAPS/NUM_LOCK lights won't response either.
I really don't understand what the problem is, it worked fine and suddenly started doing it (maybe after a power break)
I followd the "blinking reference" - https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-gy/000153002/a-reference-guide-to-the-precision-workstation-diagnostic-indicators and I got it's BIOS / video card problem.
I tried many things and combination of them, including:
- I tried first to reset the BIOS, I installed the latest driver (Dell Precision 7820 and 7920 Tower System BIOS) , and renaiming it to `BIOS_IMG.rcv` and put it in a FAT32 USB.
- Changing video cards, I have another GTX 960 I tried (because sometimes it's [3,2] pattern)
- Reseting using DDDP as explained here: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000145519/how-to-create-a-bootable-usb-flash-drive-using-dell-diagnostic-deployment-package-dddp ,
- Resetting the CMOS by taking the battery out in multiple stages and draining power.
- I also tried cleaing CMOS and NVRAM as said here: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000125609/resolve-no-power-no-post-no-boot-or-no-video-issues-with-your-dell-computer ,
but nothing seem to work. Similar Problem happened several times before, but the warranty got it right back, now I got out of warranty, and this time the screen won't even show anything.

Any help would be appreciated!

If I may ask, you mentioned this same thing happened several time while under warranty. May I know how many times ? And what dell support did ? ( changed the motherboard I assume ? )
How stable is the power in the building ? Are you using an UPS ?

@mazzinia_ They fixed it at least 3 times, twice because of nvme.2 problems (they have installeld a driver for it or something) and once for RAM problems, first time it doesn't display anything.
Never touched that, the same as bought.
Nope.
Thanks!

@magava thanks ( had to ask because the way you worded it, in a way suggested it may have had the same issue previously ).
Try the power supply test ( button on the back ) ?

When you tried to reflash the bios, you were not able to initiate it, correct ?

In this case i would sadly suspect that the only fix may be a new motherboard

@magava try : remove the cable from the wall outlet , remove the cmos battery , press the power button for 30 seconds , wait 30 minutes , put back the cmos battery , replug the cable and try to boot
