My Precision T7500 won't boot from USB
Good day all! I love my Dell but the OS needs to be repaired but I cannot get it to boot from USB. I'm using BIOS A18 and I've tried everything I can to set the USB as the boot drive and every time I get the no drive found. Yet when I try it on this Dell notebook it works perfect.
Any ideas??
Thank you all!!
Joe

Hi
Ideas? YES.
Perhaps the 'format' of the USB is incompatible? Legacy MBR / uEFI GPT
or there is a Secure Boot issue, and it has to be verified.
So how was it created?
Which actual OS?

@anne_droid Thank you for your information.
If you mean the boot-able USB, I created it on a Dell desktop and verified that it works on my Dell notebook.
This is a Windows 10 machine.
How do I adjust my bios or how do I verify using BIOS A18 if you know?
Thank you again!!

Hi
I would use the MS way and then add in all your Dell Specific Software.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Also some of the older versions of Windows 10 wont boot, it needs to be the Later/Latest version, and you could use Rufus.
Bearing in mind the 6 month lifespan left for W10, is W11 a viable option.

@anne_droid Thank you. I have the latest Os from MS and i can't go to Windows 11 because of the hardware on the Dell. What I need to do is figure out how to get the Dell to find that USB drive.

Welll..... after much head scratching.... I decided to use a 2nd thumb drive formatted to FAT-32. That booted AND it fixed my problem!! Thank you for your help.

Prego.
But I didn't really do much/anything that helped.

@anne_droid You planted the seed. When you said "Windows 10 wont boot, it needs to be the Later/Latest version," it made me think the format of the thumb drive maybe wrong. Now I don't know if just changing the drive helped or going from NTFS to FAT-32 did the trick... but... :) It's working now.. I'm SOOOO happy.
Happy Easter!
