Looking for Part Number – Precision 3280 Compact / Pro Max Micro - USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode Optional Module

I'm trying to confirm the exact Dell spare part number (DP/N) for the USB Type-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode optional I/O module that installs in the rear optional module port on the Precision 3280 Compact Workstation (CFF) and the Dell Pro Max Micro (FCM2250).

Here’s what I know so far from Dell documentation and my own research:

  • Both systems use the same chassis dimensions (206 × 79.3 × 178 mm) and both have an optional module port in the rear.

  • The Precision 3280 Owner’s Manual shows two dedicated headers on the system board:

    • TYPE-C optional connector (USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DP Alt Mode)

    • VIDEO optional connector (HDMI 2.1 / DisplayPort 1.4a / VGA)

  • The Pro Max Micro Spec Sheet also lists the optional module port with many options, including USB-C with DP Alt Mode and even Thunderbolt 4.

  • Dell configuration pages for both systems show “Optional USB Type-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode” as a selectable option during build.

  • For earlier generations (Precision 3260, OptiPlex 3000/5000/7000 Micro), this functionality used parts like GMHY5 / TCJWY. But Dell’s own site makes clear those do not list the 3280 or Pro Max Micro as compatible, suggesting Dell redesigned the optional I/O system for this generation.

  • The Owner’s Manual for both the 3280 and Pro Max Micro explicitly calls out the “OPTION / TYPE-C optional module connector” on the system board, confirming this port is real.

What I am asking the community (or Dell support staff here):

  • What is the Dell spare part number (DP/N) for the USB-C with DP Alt Mode optional module for either the Precision 3280 CFF or the Pro Max Micro FCM2250?

  • If anyone has a unit shipped with this module installed, could you please share the label / P/N from the module board itself?

  • Are the modules for the 3280 and the Pro Max Micro in fact the same board/part number, given the shared chassis and optional module system?

Dell’s documentation makes clear the feature exists, but I haven’t been able to find the actual DP/N listed anywhere in public catalogs.

Thanks in advance for any help or confirmation.
