Issue with HDD ST600MP0006 from Seagate
Hello Team,
There is an issue I am facing with ST600MP0006 HDD from Seagate. There is a existing 300 GB dell certified HDD with model no. MBA3300RC and this dell certified HDD we are using in RAID 0 configuration. The RAID controller is PERC 6/i and the workstation is T7400 precision workstation. Existing MBA3300RC is getting detected in raid utility and showing physical device as 2 and also I am able to configure it for RAID 0 configuration, this existing HDD also mentions firmware D306 sticker on the HDD. Now, due to unavailability of MBA3300RC HDD we trying to introduce ST600MP0006 HDD from Seagate, but ST600MP0006 is not getting detected in the raid utility and showing physical disk as 0. What could be the possible root cause for this issue? is it anything related to interface speed, firmware as the selected hard drive is not dell certified.

It could be a defective Seagate drive, but Fujitsu sold its drive business to Toshiba in 2009, so that other drive is also very aged. Are you rebuilding a RAID 0 array completely due to one drive having failed? If so, you may want to start with two new drives - not just one of them. Anything branded Fujitsu has already outlived its design life by a factor of three.

@ejn63 No, I tried to place both hard drive at same time for raid 0 and the raid controller doesn't seem to detect the physical drives itself. It seems there is issue with firmware compatibility with Dell PERC 6/i raid controller.
