Installing extra NVMe disks on Precision 7960 Tower
Precision 7960 Tower
Hi there,
I am trying to install two extra NVMe disks on a precision tower 7960.
I already have the disks (SSD 990 PRO NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 4 Tb). However I realized that I need an extra PCIe adapter that allows to install the 2NVMe in it.
Has anyone faced a similar issue and can suggest what do I need exactly?

The easiest way is to get a Dell Ultraspeed card where you can add additional M2 drives in it. Dell also provides an option to add additional U2/M2 nvme's. You can install them in the rear end of the computer. You need to chat with them and find the "kit" that comes with all the backplanes and cables. Megarid card is another option, but you need to get the backplanes and cables from other places like eBay.

@Rain_HH There're some compatibility issues with U.2 SSD on Precision 7960 Tower, if you install U.2 SSD in it, the system will not boot and keep reboot and reboot. But if you install the U.2 SSD after the system boot already, the system can detect the device and you can use it normally.
