Install back, REALTEK_ALC269-HD-AUDIO (On DELL Precision T3600- Win0 Pro 21H1)
Subject: Install back, REALTEK_ALC269-HD-AUDIO (On DELL Precision T3600- Win0 Pro 21H1)
Last year I bought a refurbished DELL Precision T3600 from a very reliable Non Profit Organization, (Approved Microsoft reseller). Using the functionality SYSPREP, the T3600 was supplied with Windows 10 Pro 21H1. That's all: no Realtek audio or any other Dell Utilities if any.
Problem: I'm stuck with Windows 10 audio driver and its "Thin can like sound", no line in recording…
Search: A double search (by PC model number and motherboard number) for audio drivers on Dell's site, ended up by giving me the same 2 objects:
A) REALTEK_ALC269-HD-AUDIO_VJ0P8_A13_SETUP_ZPE.exe
B) T3600-win10-A01-X9M2C.CAB (A mix of all kinds of drivers for the T3600)
Don't ask me for the WEB link(s) of these 2, as I have done this search a long time ago
Questions:
1) Is REALTEK_ALC269…100% compatible with Windows 10 Pro 21H1 (up-to-date as of Feb 1, 2022)?
2) OR do I have to install ACL269 and then upgrade it with something contained in the CAB file in B) above? (FRANKLY: I don't believe this is an upgrade).
This Cab file is a real jungle. There is an Audio Folder in it. But is doesn't seem to be Realtek stuff. I would not know where to begin with this, if had to use it.

Ok. I have installed ALC269-HD-AUDIO and it works. Only thing though the Audio Manager GUI is Simplistic, I'm disappointed . No configuration possible like the VISTA's GUI. Only this dead window:
About your #2 above: 2. The Realtek driver within the CAB file should be the same version. But you can test it"...
Since this CAB file contains all the drivers for the T3600, and that I want to update only this audio driver: By just pointing to the file, is the procedure intelligent enough as to find and install only the Realtek driver in this jungle of drivers? [surely I don't want to end up messing with the NVIDIA Drivers for instance].

Finally after trying this for a while, I've deleted it. I found the newest Driver possible directly on the REALTEK website in the package R2.82 dated 2017/07/26 containing the driver dated 2017/06/14.

@Tigars530 , I'm surprise that Win 10 did not update the Realtek driver for you. Anyway, a manual update should be easy.
1. The Realtek driver in your query is Win 8 driver but it is fully compatible with Win 10. After installation, the driver should show version 6.0.1.5931, A13
2. The Realtek driver within the CAB file should be the same version. But you can test it by select audio driver in Device Manager, select update driver, browse my computer for driver, and point it to the unzipped CAB. If the CAB has newer version, it will install, else you get a message that you have the latest driver.
You can find driver version under properties. Here is an example, driver version and year of 2008 Realtek audio driver for Windows XP but it is compatible and works well in Win 11. This is from an Inspiron 530.

@Tigars530
Not sure how you searched because the CAB Pops for me immediately
https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000121823
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03537821M/1/T3600-win10-A01-X9M2C.CAB
Can't point to a cab file to install drivers. What you do is download cab and move to my documents. Then install 7zip. Then right click on the cab in the documents folder via 7zip and say Extract here.
Then go into device manager and say update drivers FROM MY PC instead of the internet. Everything will be found and install.

Hi Chino de Oro,
TKS for your reply. OK I will try installing & testing REALTEK_ALC269 tomorrow, as it is a little late for me right now (12 pass midnight!).
Funny that you mention Inspiron 530, as I had one (running on VISTA) and kept an updated version of its Realtek driver in a zip file for a long time. (I may still have it somewhere on an ext. drive)

TKS for your reply.
Ok I know all of this. I only wrote about this CAB file because since it contains all the drivers (or nearly) for the T3600, will the procedure be able to install an update for only the HD Audio driver, by just pointing to the unzipped file?
