Inquiry About Intel X540-T2 Compatibility with Dell Precision T581
i have installed the Intel X540-T2 in the available PCIe slot on the T5810, but unfortunately, the card does not appear in BIOS or Device Manager under Windows. I have performed the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Verified that the card is properly seated and tested multiple PCIe slots.
2. Updated the BIOS to the latest available version for the T5810.
3. Checked BIOS settings to ensure PCIe slots are enabled.
4. Attempted to install the latest Intel drivers manually.
5. Confirmed that the power supply is adequate, and the system is otherwise functioning normally.
Given this, I would like to confirm:
• Is the Intel X540-T2 officially supported on the Dell Precision T5810?
• Are there any specific BIOS settings or firmware updates required to enable compatibility with this network adapter?
• Are there known issues or limitations regarding PCIe add-in cards like the X540-T2 on this model?
I would appreciate any guidance or documentation you can provide regarding this matter, as I am looking to utilize 10GbE networking with this workstation for professional use.
thank you !
