Do I need to download and update all drivers?

On Dell Command Updated v4.4.0 checked the update driver but not show any item, there are show more above Precision 3650 Tower driver items on Dell Technologies. Do I need to download and update all/partly drivers? How to check my drivers version compare to list item?

@alee001 , you don't need all the drivers and you don't need to compare the version.  Here is my suggestion:

  • Go to Dell support website and entering your service tag on drivers & downloads
  • Manually select and download the following drivers if it being marked urgent:  BIOS, video, audio, network, and storage.
  • Double click and extract each driver (except BIOS) to its own name.
  • Open Device Manager and select the devices which you just download new drivers.  Right click on the device (example Bluetooth) and select update driver, a dialogue box is open, select browse my computer for driver and pointing (browse) to the extracted folder (of Bluetooth).
  • It will install the new driver or it will display you already have the best driver installed.

Just repeat the next driver until you complete (about 5 or 6 drivers).  About the BIOS, I don't see the need to update as it will fixes the issues with network boot and recovery errors which you may not have.  Also I would get rid of the Dell DCU as it had history of security compromise before.

Various of those things are likely not installed in your unit. The ones saying "this pc" are present because based on your serial ( assuming you didn't change things after buying ).

I would personally avoid upgrading the bios, cannot comment about the nvme fw, while upgrading the video driver is a safe thing

Control panel > device manager > properties of each part needed to be checked ( like display adapters ) gives info on the version of the driver installed

Do I need to sort by date and update items after the purchase date?

Hello @alee001, this is the driver installation guide for your system after a fresh install.  To update existing system drivers without checking for version number:

  • Down load all the "urgent" drivers for your system.
  • Extract each driver instead of install (except for firmware).
  • For each downloaded driver, go to Device Manager, select update driver and point (browse) to the extracted folder.  If you have a lower version, it will update, else it will say that you have the latest driver.

If your system runs perfectly fine, avoiding unnecessary driver update unless it's for security fixes or patches.

Thanks for the reference, but it's a little difficult to get a list of each compared driver version.

Yes, I also asked the Dell technician, he said that unless there is a problem with the computer, generally there is no need to download the levy update, especially the BIOS.

I may now update individual items depending on the situation.

Yes, you need to update the driver time by time. Because the driver was corrupted or outdated when they crossed the time limit.

You can face following issues -

  • Outdated OS
  • Corrupt, Missing Driver
  • Faulty system files
  • Malware Infection
  • Bluetooth Service Not Running
  • Incorrect Audio Settings

If you install the driver updater tool, it can show you a notification automatically, to update your drivers when they are out of dated.

I am using advanced driver updater, you can try this awesome tool.

You can get a guide why we need to update drivers from here-
