Dell R7960 Rack - Firmware Update Best Practice
Hi all,
I have a Dell Precision R7960 Rack workstation and would like to keep the devices firmware updated as often as I can. However, unlike the R740's I have, the device cannot have updates managed by Dell OpenManage or via the LLC (selecting Dell website as the source). How do I manage this? Would SupportAssist be able to take care of it or would I need to install each update individually from the support page for the device?
Thank you

All 3 tools will be able to update Firmware. I prefer Option 3.

Thanks for the reply @Origin3k but I find 1 and 3 don't offer the same firmware updates that, when entering the service tag on the Dell support page, that are listed under "Drivers & Downloads". A good example of this was the BIOS installed on my R7960 was 2.0.0 but the latest (and it's a recommended upgrade) is 2.4.4. Dell Command | Update didnt flag this as an update available. Am I missing something?

I am having this issue also. I have hundreds of Precision 7960 Rack systems and need to better manage the firmware of the iDRACs and BIOS. I do have them in OpenManage Enterprise, and I am upset that it does not handle baseline for Precision machines. I am able to use OpenManage for reporting on the systems. I can also use the RACADM tool to automate pushing of firmware to the machines via a CLI.
So, my method will be to report from OpenManage then connect to the iDRACs via scripting a CLI use of the RACADM tool. Hope that helps give some idea to others.
