Dell Precision 5820 - NVMe Set-up and crazy fan-noise from NVMe Flexbay!

Hello there

I've got a Precision 5820 workstation. I've just bought an NVMe tray for one of the flexbay caddies, and inserted a 1TB WD SN770 SSD. The green tray light is lit, I can find the SSD in the Computer Management, and I selected MBR as the format type. I was then able format the SSD and it appeared in Windows Explorer as an additional drive. All seemed to be fine.

Then I rebooted to head into the BIOS to see if I needed to change any settings to make the SSD bootable. From the reboot, the fan wound up and has been on full speed all the time since. A number of reboots, and it would remain the same. No changes were made in BIOS. Eventually, I shut her down, slid the NVMe tray out enough so that it was disconnected, and booted her back up - the fan was near silent as it always has been.

Therefore, query No. 1 is why does the NVMe tray being inserted cause the internal fan to go nuts onto full power? It's so loud that it's incredibly distracting. As I write the 5820 is back to running near silently again.

Query No. 2:

Is there a guide or manual somewhere that can walk me through setting up the SSD within my 5820? My objective was to make the SSD bootable and run the computer from the SSD to speed the machine up (obviously, if the fan's going to be an unsolvable problem, then I'm going to have to put that one to bed and change the computer as the fan noise is unworkable), but I'd be very grateful if someone could point me in the direction of a step-by-step guide that shows me how to use this SSD as a bootable drive.

I'm not tech support grade user, but no newbie idiot either - therefore, something that's reasonably easy to follow would be really appreciated!

Many thanks for any replies..
