dell 7910, HD light ONLY
I have an old 7910 tower. When I plug in power, it immediately turns on. However, the power button LED is not on. None of the exterior LEDs are on except the HD LED. It is solid white.
The fans are spinning. I've tried with no HD at all.
If I hold down the power button long enough, the computer does turn off. But when I try to turn the power on again, same thing.
I've heard of power light blink codes, but never encountered something like this before

It's normal behavior for Dell systems to initialize BIOS firmware check for a few second when first plugged into the electricity outlet. It checked for instruction what to do after power is restored from an outage. Default settings= stay OFF, then it will turn itself off.
As for your troubleshooting, let replace the coin cell battery and reset CMOS via jumper first. No boot drive is fine, just need to get Dell logo to display and having access to BIOS settings, and one time boot menu.

Thanks, the battery got me far enough to get a blink code. Unfortunately, it's a bad power supply
