Dell 7820 different mother board ?

I been reading post here and I noticed there are 2 different version revisions of mother board for 7820 workstation and some processors  might not work with different versions of mother board can you explain this more and how to check for latest news motherboard version where latest CPU’s will work

That I know of ( due to benchmarks - if showing only gen2 is because I spotted only that kind of benchmark but 99.99999% gen1 are also a thing )

05WNJ2 gen1 and gen 2

0804P1 gen1 and gen 2

0YDWPC gen1

07JJ74 gen2

There may be more mb part numbers

@mazzinia_​ are you able to tell me is this MB will support 2 gen cpu

Sorry, , no clue about the first. And a definite no about the 2nd. The 7x20 stopped at gen2

@mazzinia_​ what would you do in my case dell 7820 or 7920 I am hobbies film makes on old Mac Pro now looking for new workstation with dual cpu. Found 7820 for 400 without second cup and also dell 7920 with dual but 1000 I will be running windows 11 or 12 and 10 one of those 3 one m.2 with for windows then 2 ssd drives with 1 tb each in raid 0 for storage and on RTX 3060 I will be using DaVinci resolve I am bit confused here trying to future proof my workstation

@sale001​ I think you already asked this in another thread. Just go with the best bargain you manage to find with already inside as many parts as possible ( 2 cpus by example ) because adding things bit by bit tends to be more expensive. There are lower prices likely, but the question is where you are located

@mazzinia_​ yes I did ask just so much confusion on my part I was going to get 7820 but then find out it might not fit 2nd gen cpu and so on thanks again

@mazzinia_​ that’s the thing depend on the MB don’t want to buy 7820 and I find out it can only use gen 1

@sale001​ you can always ask which mb is installed, if it's barebone. If is not barebone , same and/or look for one with already gen2 cpus
