Dell 7820 CPU Upgrade Cooling Question
I am looking to upgrade my 7820 that I bought with a Xeon Bronze 3106 CPU to a Xeon Gold 6244 CPU.
I currently only have 1 CPU and would be just swapping out to the new CPU.
The old CPU uses 85W of power and the new one would use 150W and throw off more heat. Do I need a different heat sink or other cooling components to make this upgrade a success?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
probably you are good to go. Dual cpu configurations have just one cooling option independent from the cpu installed, so by logic the more massive single cpu radiator should also suffice (note that i'm not 100% sure).
Please check that your motherboard part number is validated for 2nd Gen by looking it up on benchmarks ( if I'm not mistaken, initial motherboard p/n is not able to handle 2nd Gen )

Hi Lenny From Brooklyn,
FWIW my 7820 is equipped with dual Xeon gold 6244 and works well with the stock cooling option. You should be good to go
