Can't Install My Own Drives In A New Precision 7875
I just had an extended chat session with a Dell Sales Rep. I have an old XPS 9000 desktop with 4 hard drives, two of which are 20TB drives. My application revolves around high resolution image and video processing. I was considering updating to a Precision 7875 which can support up to 4 SATA drives. However, the tech on the chat session told me that Dell will not sell me the power/SATA harness as well as the cages/caddies for my existing drives. Ie. They want me to buy 4 new drives from Dell in order to get the harness and caddies. But Dell doesn't even offer 20TB drives for the 7875, not that I would want to buy new drives! This information was also confirmed in an email from a Dell Sr. Account Manager. I suppose I could buy the necessary harness from a 3rd party but I'm not sure about internal drive cages or disk caddies that might be needed for my existing drives. I have been a long standing customer and have owned several Dell PCs and laptops over the years. Sadly, I will be looking at alternative vendors for my new workstation...

Am not sure about 7875 but there was no internal drive cages on previous models of 5820, 7820, 7920. Customers must specify NVMe/SATA flexbay in order to receive proper wired backplane, brackets, cables, or NVMe carrier.
For the 7875, the two internal HDD cage may have included with brackets and cables as reported by users on this forum. But, the front flexbay must be configured with SATA backplane in order to connect your own drives.

@Chino de Oro
Thanks for the reply, but the sales rep was told exactly what I wanted to do with the Front Flexbay which was to insert 2 of my own drives. There apparently isn't a way to get the SATA backplane without ordering Dell drives for it. As far as the internal cage, I was again told no cables would be provided unless I configured with Dell drives

On the system configurator, select to purchase dual HDD sledge option. For internal drive bay, review this video and you will see that HDD brackets were in drive bay without HDD.
Then again, you can go to other vendors if the purpose of your post was not to seek community inputs.
