what's history of PowerVault MD Series storage?

Hi, I would like to know the history of PowerVault MD Series storage, was it bought by Dell from another company? Then who is that company? LSI?

please help on this.

thank you!

Dell OEM's the controllers and enclosures from LSI/Engenio (written all over the firmware and software).

But since then LSI sold the Engenio division to Netapp.

thank you, Dev Mgr.

So I should supposed to be able to find technical related documents about MD storage on NetApp or LSI, am I right?

That would be highly unlikely as the units have been fairly heavily OEM'd (firmware changed/customized to meet Dell's requirements/needs). You might find docs that explain some of the pure hardware (minus the raid controllers), but if you're looking for technical documents, I'd suggest to look on the Dell support site. Details about inside the raid controller or other components won't be readily available.
