Hello bellamaria,
When you replaced your tape drive did it come on a drive sled or did you reuse your LTO3 drive sled? You will need to flash both drive & library firmware when you replace an LTO drive. You can flash it with the latest version that is support for your drive & library.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I have upgraded TL2000 from LTO4 to LTO6 and we have reused the LTO4 drives in the TL4000 (cant remember what was in but i think LTO2). They all was SAS versions and we always move the complete package.

do i need to do it via IDTD software
also the lto3 drive was FC & the lto4 drive is sas. Would this cause any issues.

Hello bellamaria,
I would try to use ITDT to upgrade the drive firmware. You can switch from FC to SAS and it will work. when you switch drives you need to flash library firmware so that the TL will know the drive has been changed. It is best to do the drive firmware first and then do the library.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

how do the itdt software communicate with the drive is it via ip address of library or via sas.
i ask as i have not sorted the sas connection out yet.i wanted to get library sorted first.

Hello bellamaria,
ITDT uses the SAS or FC to test the drive. You can update the drive using the web utility however it takes longer and can sometimes crash during the update.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
