TL4000/2000 FC Tape drive thinks it''s a SAS tape drive
I have a full height Fibre Channel Tape drive that the controller is reporting as a SAS tape drive (ULT3580-HH5 ) with firmware B6W1. Any firmware update fails with an Invalid Personality message. I've replaced the controller card and it had no effect so it seems the drive has the incorrect personality.
Is the personality hardwired on the tape drive ? or is there a firmware update path out of this situation ?

Yes, reset controller to defaults on both controller cards.
Remove drive (no drives in unit), reset to defaults, power up, configure lan ip and broadcast only.
Drive is now offline with Monitor Library / Drive Identity only three lines being Id, Control Path No and Compression No.
Monitory Library / Drive Status has 6 lines being date, status : Offline, Cartridge in Drive : None, Drive Error Code : None, Cooling Fan : Ticked, Drive Activity : Offline
Library Status shows : HE: drive logged out Code: FB 01
Does the Drive Logged out refer to the FC network connectivity status or the drive to controller card status ?

drive logged out generally happens when theres a configuration issue with the drive, compatibility for example.
what specifically reports its a sas drive?
