PowerVault ME4024 - Adding new drives of different capacity
Hi
I have a ME4024 with 4 drive slots left that I wish to populate with Dell branded 3.84TB disks. The other 20 slots are taken by 900GB drives already. I believe I have read that this is possible - can some please advise.
Kind regards

Hi @TopKat,
Yes, you may populate different sizes and types of drive in the same system. Ref: page 2 https://dell.to/3Rb1qqQ
Please refer to drive support matrix for Dell branded 3.84TB DPN#: https://dell.to/3DfBc0m

@DELL-Joey C Are you sure about your answer? The OP has just 4 slots left in an existing row that already has 900GB drives installed. Per the ME4 Deployment Guide,
● Hard disk drives (HDD) and solid-state drives (SDD) can be mixed in the same drawer.
● HDDs installed in the same row should have the same rotational speed.
● DDICs holding 3.5" disks can be intermixed with DDICs holding 2.5" disks in the enclosure. However, each row should be populated with disks of the same form factor (all 3.5" disks or 2.5" disks).
This sounds like you can have different types and sizes of disks in the same drawer, but not in the same row, since each row should have a) the same form factor drives and b) the same rotational speed (if HDDs, obviously, but presumably that also means not having SSDs and HDDs mixed since their performance is so different).
Please clarify.

Looking at the drive matrix I think I have identified the correct "DELL" branded 3.84TB disk that we require. its a 2.5" Seagate 3,84TB.
